TITLE |
Involving Parents, Carers And Pupils in the Healthy School: An Introduction |
DESCRIPTION |
A challenge for local healthy schools programmes is to encourage and enable schools to develop greater involvement of parents and carers and pupils in the ‘Healthy School’. At the same time schools need to report on whole school community participation as part of the SEF (e.g. section 2) and parental involvement is key to the Education and Inspections Bill (2006)
The course will explore key issues for parental / pupil involvement including problems and practicalities and offer possible solutions (with some hard nose practical ideas / tools) including the recently launched Family SEAL and the tremendously exciting and effective Speakeasy programme which HS is introducing to Cornwall in partnership with the Teenage Pregnancy Coordinator. It will also highlight some excellent local HS practice such as the Get Cooking for Schools courses, gardening clubs and Family Fun Fit. |
AUDIENCE |
The day is open to any school (regardless of HS involvement / status) from any sector and is aimed at Heads / HS coordinators / PSHE coordinators / Governors / Parent reps.
