Health Champions

“Volunteers supporting health in the community throughout Cornwall and Isles of Scilly”

What is the Health Champion Scheme?
The Health Champion scheme offers the opportunity for volunteers to work alongside NHS projects that support the health of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly communities.
Volunteering will offer people the opportunity to improve their own health and wellbeing, while making new friends along the way.

The Role of a Health Champion:
There are many roles for volunteering throughout the Health Promotion department, it completely depends on your interests and how much responsibility you would like, also the amount of time that you are able to give.
We have duties ranging from administration up to facilitating sessions and representing the department alongside Health Promotion officers at conferences, events etc.

Put simply, the role of a Health Champion is to promote healthy living, having presence at local sessions, events and festivals, where they engage with the local communities of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

How to get involved:
Volunteers can become involved as a Health Champion by signing up to our volunteering programme. This will include a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check, health questionnaire, 2 reference etc. But you could soon be part of the team.

Basic expenses, such as travel costs will be covered.

Volunteer Cornwall
We work very closely with Volunteer Cornwall, who are dedicated to developing individuals and communities through volunteering. They also offer a huge range of host organisations for volunteering placements and can support volunteers with a range of training and services.
