Our aim
To communicate accurate, understandable and credible health promotion information direct to the public.
To develop the capacity and capability of those interested in the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities to deliver effective health promotion through the provision of appropriate information, resources and support.

Our vision is for a co-ordinated approach to health promotion information, communicated and delivered to the public and those that support their health.
Our guarantee
Requests by telephone are dealt with within three working days. Response to written requests within five working days of receipt.
What we can offer
- A free lending service of resources, including: books, training packs, videos, audio cassette tapes, anatomical models, display panels and sports equipment.
- Free provision of leaflets and posters.
- Free loan service of audio visual equipment and exhibition display panels.
- Reference materials including latest research, statistics and reports.
- Video preview and study areas.
- Database providing details of national and local support organisations.
- Internet searches where appropriate.
- Campaign materials.
Information centre rules and regulations Conditions of membership
We require some form of identification before jointing. All users are requested to complete and sign a registration card and will be issued with a membership card.
Books and training packs are available for loan of up to 28 days. Loan periods for other resources are at the discretion of the Centre staff.
Items may be renewed by phone or in person, unless another request has been received.
In order to meet the needs of users, it is necessary for users to return items by the specified date. A fine for overdue resources will be charged at 10p per working day, per item. High demand items will be charged at £1 for every day the resource is returned late. Items which are high demand are marked.
Borrowers will be held responsible for any damaged or lost resources.
All items must be checked out of the Centre via the automated issue system.
Reference materials can be photocopied in accordance with the Copyright Act as a minimum cost. A declaration form must be signed by the person requesting the photocopy.
Appointments to visit Centre are not necessary, but it would be appreciated if users could notify us of their pending visit if they require detailed assistance from staff or if a group intends to visit. Groups to a maximum of six would be appreciated.
Library users must respect that the library is a place of study and should act accordingly.
Important Reminder
Please remember that resources you borrow from the Information Service should not be sub-let. If a resource is borrowed under your name, and you lend it to someone else, you remain responsible for its safe return. Unfortunately, some clients are incurring fines or are having to pay for resources lost by third parties.

The service carries out regular client satisfaction surveys, but we welcome comments at any other time.
Renewal of resources
The Health Promotion Information centre has a fine system for loan items not returned on time. If you have borrowed a resource, and want to keep it longer, let us know. We can extend the period of hire so you do not incur a fine.
