Only have sex if you want to
This is a simple statement that may be very difficult to put into practice. Love, affection, and the wish to please a partner may mean people sometimes say 'Yes' when they would really like to say 'No'. It is OK to say 'No'.

Unprotected sex may put you at risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease and HIV/AIDS.
The only method of contraception which offers protection from sexually transmitted disease is the barrier method - the male or female condom.

Many doctors would advocate the use of both the Pill and the condom together to protect against pregnancy and infection.

Unprotected sex may put you at risk of an unwanted pregnancy. Be safe, use contraception.
Unprotected sex may be referring to the risk of pregnancy alone and various non-barrier methods of contraception such as the pill, coil and injectable method can offer protection from an unwanted pregnancy but offer no protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

Safer sex offers protection
This applies to both partners. There are other ways to share sexual pleasure than sexual intercourse.
