Think Back!
Back pain is the most common health problem in Britain for the under 65s.
Here are some tips to prevent back pain:
- Think "back" all the time!
- Stand and sit tall, keeping the natural curves in your spine.
- Never twist and bend at the same time.
- Work at a height suitble for you to keep your back erect and maintain the natural S
shape.
- When lifting, remember to bend your knees, not your back.
- Take care picking up and putting down things.
- Carry "the load" close to your body. Keep your elbows tucked in.
- Always use the shoulder straps on bags and rucksacks properly.
- Try to keep your weight down.
- Try not to sit more than 20 minutes without getting up, having a stretch and moving
around.
- Keep active daily, and try to do back stretching and strengthening exercises regular.
Remember THINK BACK.
