Communication Support Service - Cornwall Council
Location: county wide
The team of Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and assistants work as a tier of the community Speech and Language Therapy service.
They work with children with the most severe and/or complex communication needs in mainstream primary, secondary schools or ARBs.
The children they support may be non-speaking and require Alternative or Augmentative Communication (AAC). They may have severe autism, severe learning difficulties, severe dyspraxia, and these may be combined with a medical diagnosis.
The team work towards developing the functional communication skills of the children within their learning environment. They do this by providing a range of training, individual and advisory support and attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings where appropriate. The team also work alongside other relevant Cornwall Council teams where appropriate.
