HS Projects & Good Practice The Criteria

Criteria 2 - Curriculum and Policies

The school needs to recognise opportunities to support social inclusion through policy development, monitoring and evaluating health related activities including curriculum. And will have a range of policies to support the reduction of health inequalities and improve social inclusion within the curriculum, in line with national requirements and non- statutory guidelines.

There will be a named Co-ordinator with recognised responsibility for the planning and development of a Health Education programme which is supported with on-going training with Continual Professional development plans which include training for PSHE.

Parents and governors need to be offered the opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of health related issues to support the school in its efforts to increase the health of its community and to reduce health inequalities.

There needs to be a system for monitoring and evaluating schemes of work based upon a curriculum map of PSHE and Citizenship (Ct) throughout the curriculum in order to highlight the practice and identify any gaps in provision and training needs.

The school needs to examine the way it includes and promotes participation of all pupils, parents and the wider community in the development and improvement of the school to ensure that it meets the diverse needs of pupils.

The school will have a universally understood and adopted procedure around confidentiality and information dissemination. In order to protect pupils who are most vulnerable.
