Criteria
7 - Health Related Activity
|
This criteria aims to help encourage schools
to increase the levels of participation in health
related activity across the whole school community
with the aim of improving health and increasing
potential. Whilst raising awareness of the benefits
of regular physical activity on general health.
The School will need to provide the minimum
statutory curriculum requirements for PE. And
in support of this the school offers all pupils
whatever their age or ability a minimum of two
hours of physical activity a week within and
beyond the national curriculum. This includes
the promotion of extra-curricular activities
involving physical activity.
There needs to be liaison with external agencies
that are engaging in initiatives which seek to
increase the level of participation of members
of the whole school community. As they may be
in a position to support the schools.
Involvement of parents in the policy, planning
and support of pupils to increase their participation
in health related activity is encouraged by the
school. And they may be included in the efforts
required to work towards appropriate nationally
recognised awards for physical activity that
the school will be required to participate in
to achieve this criteria.
The school actively promotes whole school involvement,
including parents and carers and staff, in health
related activities.
That there is an inclusive approach to physical
activity that encourages the less motivated to
engage.
