The health of every child matters in Cornwall
|
Following on from the Children Act 2004 (click here to download a summary) a great deal of work is underway to implement the Change for Children Programme in Cornwall. The changes can be seen in the major reorganisation taking place in the County Council (with the implementation of the Directorate for Children, Young People and Families).
The Comwall Health Promotion Service and the Cornwall Healthy Schools Programme are making a major contribution to ECM. Find out more about ECM by following the links below.

What is Every Child Matters?
Every Child Matters sets out the Government's proposals for reforming the delivery of services for children, young people and families. It builds on existing measures to ensure that we protect children at risk of harm and neglect from negative outcomes and support all children to develop their full potential.
Vision
We have consensus around the outcomes we seek for children and young people as they themselves define them. We want to help all children and young people to:·
Be Healthy: enjoying good physical and mental health and living a healthy lifestyle;·
Stay Safe: being protected from harm and neglect and growing up able to look after themselves;·
Enjoy and Achieve: getting the most out of life and developing broad skills for adulthood;·
Make a Positive Contribution: to the community and to society and not engaging in anti-social or offending behaviour;·
Achieve economic well-being.
