Physical Activity Toolkit (Guidance for Schools)
Aim of the Physical Activity guidance
Download the physical activity toolkit material (pdf files)
Physical Activity is an integral part of daily life in a health-promoting school. The purpose of this guidance is to offer support to schools in the process of working towards National Healthy School Status, or who have achieved it and wish to develop further. It demonstrates how Physical Activity can be promoted throughout the school day and beyond by:
supporting the whole-school approach to promoting healthy active lifestyles
providing clear and consistent messages about Physical Activity, its promotion and how to facilitate participation
providing ideas and practical tips as well as case studies to inform practice
signposting to resources, training opportunities, funding and other sources of information
identifying people within and outside of the school community who can help to deliver the National Healthy Schools Programme targets.
Workshops and Launch Events
We will be organising a series of launch events and workshops for schools around the guidance. Key people involved in all aspects of Physical Activity in County will be in attendance and the emphasis for schools will be on practical support to implement the guidance.
Dates will be posted here and on the schools information exchange.
Small Grants for Physical Activity
We will also offer schools a chance to apply for a grant of up to £500 to develop work in physical activity with an emphasis on parental involvement in helping their children stay active.
