Cornwall schools good practice - find out what others are doing for Healthy Schools
PHASE - Primary Schools/Primary Health Care
Links Project
The PHASE website is
intended to help schools and practitioners continue
to work together to improve children's health
and to share the lessons we learnt in the two
and half years. The site contains good practice
guidelines, outline session plans, access to
our wonderful resources, news of good health
education projects taking place in County and
a whole lot more.
Cornwall Circle Time Network
The CCTN is intended
to support everyone interested in developing
their practice in Circle Time in county
with an exchange of information, ideas,
inspiration and enthusiasm for developing
children's Emotional Literacy and self-esteem
so that they may become better learners
and get the most out of the school experience.
We aim to cover a whole range of ideas
linked to self-esteem, emotional literacy,
classroom circles etc. drawing on a range
of sources. (Which we hope you will contribute
to...). The key is quick access to practical
information and ideas so there will be
lots of links and further contacts and
a message board where users can post
requests for ideas, help, inspiration
or to share good practice.
Cornwall Health Education Substance
Safety (CHESS)
Drugs Education Informed Choice Education (DICE)
All schools should now have received their CHESS (KS1 and KS2) and DICE (KS3/4) packs. There should have also been an opportunity for at least one member of staff to have attended an introductory training session. The support for CHESS and DICE is on-going and this area of the Healthy Schools website will contain updates, new resources and information about how schools can access our or further training opportunties.
Look Alive KS 1 Lifeskills
Resource
Working in partnership with the Cornwall County Council Road Safety Unit we have been developing a training package around their new, free to schools, KS1 resource, Look Alive. Part of the work has included the development of an interactive version of the resource (with interactive whiteboards in mind) and showing Look Alive can be integrated into PSHE and other areas of the curriculum and linking it to Healthy Schools work. We have also been able to demonstrate links between using Look Alive and developing Circle Time work and the use of the Social Emotional and Behavioural Skills (SEBS) programme.
This site provides passworded access to the interactive version and other support materials.
Cornwall Schools Heartstart Project
A new project introduced as part of the CHSP intended to support take up of the safety criterion (8) and assist schools to work towards accreditation but much, much more importantly offer children a fundamental and vitally important lifeskill - Emergency Life Support.
CHSP has been awarded a grant from Hearstart UK (a part of the British Heart Foundation) to support schools to get involved in the Heartstart Schools Programme.
This site will provide information about the project and support materials for schools taking part in the project.
