PARENTS AND CHILDREN TOGETHER (PACT)
|
School Nurse Sue Adams has been working on an exciting project with Debby Morris...
Parents And Children Together (PACT) is a way for the school to ‘team up’ with parents to achieve the very best for children in helping to prepare them for the teenage years, and adulthood. It is a new way of working which builds on the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) at school and at home. The project is a partnership between home and the school in teaching skills for life, which helps give knowledge, skills and attitudes in order for children to:
- Manage their feelings,
- Make good friendships,
- ‘Stand up’ for themselves and not be ‘pushed around’,
- Feel good about themselves,
- Make decisions,
- Understand different types of relationships.
There are 3 schools in Cornwall involved in the pilot of this project who are currently working on a set of classroom activities which are linked to a set of ‘take-home’ activities. Although this is at present a pilot project, it is hoped to be able to roll it out across county in time to come.
