CORNWALL HEALTHY SCHOOLS PROGRAMME – CORE THEME TRAINING

To help schools meet the requirements of the new national Healthy School Standard the Cornwall Healthy Schools Programme will be holding a series of training events around the County based on the four Core Themes:

    • Personal Social and Health Education
    • Healthy Eating
    • Physical Activity
    • Emotional Health and Well-Being

Each session will last half a day and will cover:

    • Meeting the criteria
    • Local Partners who can support schools
    • Useful documents / resources / contacts / links
    • Evidence and evaluation
    • Preparing and implementing policies
    • Pupil / Parent Participation
    • Self assessment and the validation process

NETWORKING AND LOCAL SUPPORT GROUPS FOR SCHOOLS

There will also be networking opportunities with neighbouring schools and a audit / action plan ‘surgery’ run by team members.

  • Involving Parents and Carers and Pupils in being a Healthy School
  • SRE in the HS Standard
  • Drugs Education in the HS Standard

  • Circle Time / Protective Behaviours in the Primary Classroom
  • Setting up / Developing a School Council
