CHESS / SEAL Links Mapping

SEAL is set to revolutionise primary school education as it is introduced across the county. It is possibly one of the most exciting developments in education... in learning and achievement... in pupils' social and emotional well-being... in creating a more emotional literate society and in drugs education.

The SEAL resources are excellent and the curriculum well thought out and comprehensive. The CHESS materials, written a couple of years ago, were amazingly forward looking in that they very closely match the SEAL materials.

When delivering the SEAL curriculum there are many opportunities to include CHESS themes and materials as well as other aspects of the Healthy Schools "Staying Safe..." agenda. We have mapped the CHESS materials against the SEAL themes across the primary school age range to highlight these opportunities and these 'maps' can be downloaded below.

As well as these maps we are planning to develop some guidance about how to combine CHESS themes within SEAL and carry out appropriate assessments and record keeping and INSET / Training Days will focus on integrating CHESS with SEAL.
