Core Theme 4 : Emotional Health & Well-being
|
More information about the CRITERIA for Core Theme 4
- Promoting positive emotional health and wellbeing to help pupils understand and express their feelings, and build their confidence and emotional resilience and therefore their capacity to learn.
At last! Recognition for the importance of EHWB with the introduction of the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) curriculum. Right there at the core of the primary curriculum. And soon in Secondary schools too with the introduction of the Social & Emotional Behavioral Skills curriculum as part of the KS3 Band A strategy.
SEAL in the primary school (and SEBS if, and when, it is launched in September 2007...) is at the heart of this core theme but not exclusively.
Consideration needs to be given to behaviour and rewards policies, support mechanisms for staff and pupils and opportunities to participate.
The CHSP team have experience of working with SEAL and we are working closely with the Behaviour and Attendance Team (contact Neil Goddard for more information)
Kate Pordage can offer work around Circle Time, Protective Behaviours and SEAL.
Anti Bullying Cornwall (ABC) do terrific work in schools including policy development.
We have a fantastic SEAL resource available on CD Rom for schools combining all the published SEAL resources including Family SEAL. The material has been organised by Theme and by Year Group to make it easier for teachers to use. The CD also contains some fantastic PSHE / SEAL mapping and planning tools. Ring the office (01209 - 310061) or send us an e mail for a copy of the CD ROM
or click here to download a copy of some of the mapping / planning tools. |
