Criteria 8 - Health & Safety, Buildings and Grounds, Wider Environmental Issues

For this criteria schools will need to establish a secure and safe environment and promote safe practice within and beyond the curriculum.

They need to Demonstrate the provision of a safe and pleasant environment that follows safe practices. And that this Complies with statutory requirements in regard to Health and Safety.

There needs to be a range of safety education, including risk awareness and management within the curriculum. All staff are updated on appropriate ways of responding to accidents and emergencies. The school has clear policy on support of pupils with medical needs.

The school will develop practice that raises awareness and supports safety within the school community. Including measures to encourage safe alternatives to the car for travelling to school, including walking and cycling. Look at why we would want to encourage walking to school the local environment and wider environmental issues and make links to the impact these have on Health.
