What is PHIL?

PHIL, the Promoting Health Information Line is the first point of contact for both professionals and the general public looking to improve their own health or the health of others.

Our aim is to provide free healthy lifestyle advice and support and to enable access to services throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We provide trusted advice and guidance, motivational and on going support, and can refer to other services on issues such as:

  • Smoking
  • Physical inactivity
  • Unhealthy diet/weight loss
  • Excess alcohol
  • Lack of social connections

There are many healthy lifestyle services in Cornwall from Stop Smoking Clinics and Memory Cafes to Healthy Weight courses and Zumba Classes. Whatever your issues are, we can talk you through the services available, taking into account your individual needs, where you live, where you work and, of course, cost. Some services do charge, but we are aware of many that are totally free.

Leading a healthier lifestyle will help you to avoid:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease/Stroke
  • Bone and joint conditions
  • Mental health conditions
  • Lung disease

It’s really easy to contact one of our friendly and non-judgmental advisors who will talk you through the options available and help you set some new goals. Simply call us on 01209 313419, text us free on 07800006472 or email us cornwallphil@nhs.net.
