What is the Health Champion scheme?
The Health Champion scheme offers the opportunity for volunteers to work alongside Health Promotion projects that help support the health of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly communities.
Volunteering will offer people the opportunity to improve their own health and wellbeing, while making new friends along the way.
The Role of a Health Champion
There are many roles for volunteering throughout the Health Promotion Service, it completely depends on your interests and how much responsibility you would like, also the amount of time that you are able to give.
We have duties ranging from administration up to assisting facilitate sessions and representing the department alongside Health Promotion officers at conferences, events etc.
Put simply, the role of a Health Champion is to promote healthy living, having presence at local sessions, events and festivals, where they engage with the local communities of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. To view Health Champion Volunteer Role Profiles (click here)
How to get involved
Volunteers can become involved as a Health Champion by signing up to our volunteering programme. This will involve a DBS (previously CRB) check, health questionnaire, 2 reference etc. But you could soon be part of the team.
Basic expenses, such as agreed travel costs will be covered.
Volunteer Cornwall
We work with Volunteer Cornwall, who are dedicated to developing individuals and communities through volunteering. They also offer a huge range of host organisations for volunteering placements and can support volunteers with a range of training and services.
